History of Balga Church
Fellowship began in the 1980’s under Pastor Denzil Humphries and his wife Shirley. They ministered in the area for over 20 years doing a wonderful work in a difficult era where people were opposed to the establishment of a church that would serve the Aboriginal community. Denzil was a foundation board member of the Aboriginal Evangelical Fellowship of Australia. The Ebenezer Home ministry began in this time.
Under his guidance, Pastor Harley Hayward took up the role with Roslyn in the late 1980’s. The Balga church property was built in the 1990’s to finally secure a venue for the future. It was a great celebration to finally have a permanent base to serve from.
Pastor Leon Hayward and Raelene began in the ministry in 2010 and they continue in the Lord’s work at Balga until now.
Having only 3 pastors in the past 40+ years has meant that the church is very important to the community we serve.
